Random Thought XXVIII

As everyone must have heard about uproar that as been caused by Jaswant Singh's latest book where he called Jinnah, a Secular and blamed Nehru, Patel for the partition, So I was also reading articles about it and the debate that it had started. So this thought came to my mind

"Why is it called Partition of India and not creation of Pakistan? When a mother gives birth to a baby its said that a baby has born and never like a baby has been partitioned/separated. Because to put it plainly, it was something which everybody knew that wasn't correct "

Its indeed a very debatable topic and I really differ to comment more until I am fully aware of all the facts. But nevertheless a random thought.

  1. Partition was really a partition and not creation. It isn't like a baby born, but more like a limb being cut off... leaving the body in pain, and the severed limb ultimately is dead.

  2. I totally agree with Shalina there. It's not like a baby born but it's like the division of a family..two brothers who've lived together all their lives, decide to separate.
As for the debate, I don't know much of facts, but I believe that it's true that Gandhi ji and Nehru, n Patel preffered Partition. The reason was because Jinnah wanted to be the Prime Minister. Gandhi ji was a visionary and he clearly understood that just freeing a country is not the only task involved in Freedom Movement. The ability of the country to sustain itself and avoid another slavery, is also a part. That's why he wanted someone like Nehru, who had Foreign unbringing, and education to become the Prime Minister. It's not that they were thirsty for Power or anything. Power was the least freedom fighters thought. If they had, we would never have got Freedom.
